Convert DVD VOB files directly to XviD or DivX AVI files.

Catalencoder is a freeware application that can convert VOB files from a commercial DVD to Windows-ready AVI files

Finding software which converts DVDs to XviD or DivX AVI files can sometimes be a complicated task, but Catalencoder is an easier solution which does just that.

The interface of the program is a little bit cluttered but nevertheless easy-to-use once you know exactly what everything does.

Getting started with Catalencoder is simple: just import a DVD via the file browser dialog, choose an output directory and your settings and click the corresponding button.

Some of the settings you can specify for your output file are things like deinterlace, cropping, video size and several audio-related options like normalization and language track; subtitle streams can also be converted from the DVD disc.

Help files for Catalencoder are virtually non-existent and the use of the English language in the program isn't that great.. but the ease-of-use otherwise makes this program pretty good.

Compatibility and License

Catalencoder has been released under the open source GPL license on Windows from media converter software. The license provides the options to freely download, install, run and share this program without any restrictions.
